LEGISLATIVE INFORMATION
The Home Rule Charter
defines the Board of County Commissioners as being a body of “citizen
legislators.” As local legislators, commissioners seek to serve the best
interests of the community while representing the priorities and needs of
their districts. As a result, significant effort is put forth in involving
citizens and interest groups in the policy-making process. Commissioners
introduce policy proposals based on personal experience within their
district and based on input from constituents or interest groups, advisory boards and
commissions, and county staff.
