The County Treasurer is responsible for billing, collecting, investing, and distributing taxes for all of the taxing entities within the county. The Treasurer also is responsible for all other moneys belonging to Johnson County or which are directed by law to be paid to the Treasurer. In addition, the Treasurer serves as an agent of the State Department of Revenue, Division of Vehicles, regarding the administration of motor vehicle titling and registration.

The Records and Tax Administration Department -- a consolidation of the offices of County Clerk and Register of Deeds, pursuant to the Home Rule Charter -- is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the county's tax rolls and for managing the land recordation process as well as for filing and recording official records as prescribed by state law.
