The AIMS Department operates the County’s geographic information system that integrates extensive geographical databases with state-of-the-art technology and software to produce graphic and geographic processing, database management, spatial analysis and modeling to support the delivery of County services and programs.

The County Economic Research Institute, known as CERI, is a nonprofit economic development institution that was established by the Board of County Commissioners that serves as a partner with the local county and city governments chambers of commerce, local and regional economic development organizations, schools, and the general business community to sustain jobs, expand the area tax base, and to promote Johnson County through basic and applied research and statistical analyses.

The Enterprise Center of Johnson County is a nonprofit economic development institution that was established by the Board of County Commissioners to stimulate business creation and employment in Johnson County by providing value-added resources and services to early stage, high growth-oriented companies.

The Planning, Development and Codes Department is responsible for ensuring the coordinated, efficient, and safe development and sustained growth of the County for all current and future residents by providing professional contractor monitoring, building codes enforcement, development and land use reviews and recommendations, long-range planning, and geographic and socioeconomic analyses.
