BIOGRAPHY

A lifelong Kansan and native of Olathe, Commissioner John Toplikar has been a tireless public servant for more than 18 years. Currently serving his second term as the Sixth District County Commissioner, Toplikar proudly serves the western half and southwest corner of Johnson County.

Throughout his career as a residential carpenter, Toplikar has demonstrated a genuine commitment to public service during his tenure at city, county and state levels of government. During his two years (at-large) as a member of the Olathe City Council, and in representing the Fifteenth District in the Kansas House of Representatives for more than a decade, plus 5 years at the County, he has always worked to represent views "of the people, by the people, and for the people."

The insights and experiences gained in his many years in elected office and community service have afforded Toplikar a greater understanding of the issues of critical importance to his constituents. He has made fiscal accountability a top personal priority as he works to ensure the delivery of quality services and the essential programs of county government.

“Keeping Johnson County an affordable place to live is a top priority in my role as a county commissioner,” says Toplikar. Toplikar has also made a top priority the enhancement of key components of county infrastructure, including roads and public safety.

In addition to the demands and responsibilities of his career and elected office, Toplikar has also earned a reputation as a community volunteer with the Knights of Columbus, Special Olympics, and the American Heart Association. However, it is impossible for any of these commitments to compete with his devotion to his wife of 20 years, Dianne, and his son John Paul, who have supported him in his dedication to serving the people of Kansas and the Sixth District community.
