TASK FORCE SUBGROUPS Each subgroup of the Environmental Task Force was set up to help develop and implement short-term actions in five different areas targeted for reducing ozone-related emissions in Johnson County. Below is a listing of the subgroups, its members, and a brief summary. Public Education and
Outreach The Public Education and Outreach subgroup identifies ozone reducing activities occurring in Johnson County. The focus of the group is to provide ozone reduction awareness through education and activities. Laura Downey Vehicle and Equipment Operation and Maintenance The Vehicle and Equipment Operation and Maintenance subgroup focuses on ways to keep vehicles and other equipment well tuned and operating properly. Michael Carter The Personal Car Use subgroup focuses on the reduction of traffic congestion and vehicle miles traveled by the promotion of commuting, biking, or walking as alternate forms of transportation. Deb Ridgeway Alternative Vehicles and Fuels The Alternative Vehicles and Fuels subgroup focuses on promoting cleaner vehicles and fuels which include E-85 gasoline, O2 diesel fuel, and gas-electric hybrid vehicles. Dave Brown The Lawn and Garden Care subgroup focuses on encouraging the community to use yard care alternatives that produce less pollution, including the promotion of low maintenance landscaping and native plants.
