I am privileged and deeply honored to be able to serve as the first popularly elected Chairman under Johnson County's Home Rule Charter—the first of its kind in Kansas. As your County Government's chief elected official, I am committed to providing pro-active leadership that strengthens the connection between the organization of Johnson County Government and the people it serves. My first priority and number one goal is to bring the people to County Government and the County Government to the people.

I believe the future holds great promise and unprecedented opportunity for Johnson County, and I'm excited by the many challenges and opportunities that lay ahead. As we enter the twenty-first century, I challenge you to get involved in your community and join with me and the other elected officials and leaders in our community in creating a vision for a better and brighter future.
