Ambassador of Johnson County Government

The Chairman is the official ambassador and ceremonial head of the Johnson County Government and serves, in accordance with the policies of the Board of County Commissioners, as its chief spokesperson and representative with the community, other government agencies, and members of the news media. The Chairman also receives dignitaries, visitors, and special guests and issues proclamations and special commendations in the name of the Board of County Commissioners.

 

As a public advocate, the Chairman oversees the operations of the constituent services team, which is responsible for receiving and responding to inquiries and requests for assistance. The Chairman also coordinates closely with the County Manager to improve the responsiveness and delivery of essential county services and programs and to raise public awareness and participation in local government processes.

The Chairman promotes Johnson County as a "community of choice," and participates in lectures, summits, conferences, and tours in the local and regional areas as well as at state and national levels. On behalf of the Board, the Chairman issues proclamations and various certificates and other awards in recognition of special events and distinguished individuals.
