Overland Park Annexation

The city of Overland Park formally presented to the Board of County Commissioners an annexation petition on August 23, 2007, pursuant to K.S.A. 12-521.

 

On Thursday, February 21, 2008, the Johnson County Board of Commissioners adopted Resolution No. 014-08 which approved, in part, an annexation petition that had been submitted by the City of Overland Park, pursuant to K.S.A. 12-521, on August 23, 2007. That action now authorizes the City to annex 5,325 acres--or roughly 8.5 square miles--of the original request. The City had petitioned to annex 9,569 acres, or roughly 15 square miles. The Board's vote reduces the total area approved for annexation by 44 percent.

 

The areas designated as 1, 2, and 3 on the Annexation Map were approved; the Areas designated 4 and 5 were denied. A color-coded copy of the map can be downloaded by clicking here.
